Unfortunately we don't actually play as Mulder and Scully even though they are in the game. Every summer when our family was at our cabin we would watch X-Files every night at 22:00 as it was airing on TV, so when I suddenly saw they'd made a video game I had to buy it right away. X-Files: The Video Game - I loved the series growing up in the 90's. These games were usually a bit too hard for me to really appreciate, but I still have a lot of nostalgia for these games. It is probably one of the most famous point and clicks of all time spanning multiple sequels with re-releases, remasters and remakes that is made to this day. Myst - Literally everyone who grew up in the 90's and owned a computer had this game. It borrows a lot of inspiration from cartoon violence like Animaniacs and Itchy & Scratchy. The whole game is beautifully hand drawn and made in the style of Roger Rabbit where real actors are blended in a wacky cartoon world. Toonstruck - A charming game starring Christopher Lloyd and Dan Castellanata where Lloyd is a cartoon animator who gets thrown into a cartoon world of his own creation which he must save from the evil grasps of Count Nefarious played by Tim Curry. It delves deep in the occult and has a surprisingly lengthy for being so high budgeted. It had really high production values, even has several star actors like Dennis Hopper, and the story revolves around real serial murders like The Black Dahlia murder and The Cleveland Torso murders. Game is absurdly obscure with some really challenging puzzles, they are so hard that every single puzzle in the game can be bypassed with a password. There also has been no re-releases on either GOG or Steam, so very few people know of this game. Unfortunately it is very unknown, underrated and really hard to get running properly on new computers. Really not a game for those easily offended.īlack Dahlia - This game is actually really good. I can promise you have never played anything like it. It really has to be experienced to understand just how fascinatingly bizarre, warped and twisted this game really is. Kind of like the hell version of Twin Peaks. It's probably one of the most depraved, weird and fucked up games ever made. Harvester - Even to this day I cannot understand how a game like this can exist. I even backed their newest game Tesla Effect that they released a couple of years back. It's also great that they are still alive after so many decades. I honestly think Tex Murphy is an iconic protagonist. They contain a ton of cool puzzles and stuff to explore. Tex Murphy - This whole series is lot of fun. But as I've grown older I've learned to appreciate it more and find it pretty progressive and forward thinking with how it deals with its LGBT-characters and having a main protagonist who is bi. Phantasmagoria 2 - Never liked this one growing up compared to the first game, probably because a lot of the plot went above me and it was just boring compared to the first game. Phantasmagoria - Absolutely loved getting lost exploring the castle growing up, the game have an unmatched level of immersion thanks to the haunting music and some really disturbing cutscenes and gore. I have wanted to visit Neuschwanstein ever since I played the game. I really enjoy how Jane Jensen combines fiction with history. It has a really good story, exciting historic locations in Germany, a great cast and high production values. Gabriel Knight 2 - Arguably the best FMV game ever made.
